June's Story

June was removed from a yard by animal control and taken to the shelter as a cruelty/neglect case due to her incredibly poor body condition. The kind ACO that saved her reached out to us and asked if we could take her in when she wasn't approved for the shelter adoption floor.

June is a petite little pocket-sized girl and just absolutely adorable! She has filled out nicely with regular meals and looks like a brand new dog. She is full of energy and is eager to experience new adventures with a family of her very own. She loves to cuddle and definitely thinks she's a lap dog; she'll not only wiggle her way on to your lap, but into your heart!

Understandably, June does take some time to warm up to new people and likes to be able to approach as she is comfortable; she seems to have some reservations with men and people in hats or with backpacks. Though, there are definitely some people she doesn't hesitate to run right up to and shower them with kisses!  She especially loves her human foster brother, too. June doesn't like to be left alone for long periods of time, so a family with flexible or short hours would be preferred.

June is a little too interested in cats but does correct well, although we wouldn't recommend a home with cats. She seems to be good with other dogs, but she does like to play rough and can be a little excitable, so a playful, tolerant dog would be ideal.

If you would like to give June a chance, please fill out an Adoption Application so we can schedule a meet-and-greet!

*NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and generally inaccurate. For most of our adoptable dogs, we are only taking a guess at predominant breed or breed mixture. We focus on getting to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
